Discover this "city of character" full of history, with its medieval churches and the eleventh century and nineteenth century.
At the heart of Haute Provence territory marked by a typical handicrafts, the village of Castellane offers pottery, honey, herbs, wine, soaps and perfumes. Market on Wednesday and Saturday mornings.

In the year 812, Castellane was totally destroyed by the Saracen invasions. The survivors took refuge in the citadel then present on the Roc (altitude 903 m). Destroyed and rebuilt several times since, the chapel of our lady of rock is now a place of pilgrimage, covered with ex-votos (votive plaques, wreaths, models).
It can be accessed by a marked path from the church of sacred heart of Castellane. The Camping International of Castellane also proposes hikes, over 3 h, starting from the campsite. (More info on the page of our hikes)

Created by dams Chaudanne and Castillon, this lake is 15 km long lies in the valley of the Verdon and covers 500 hectares. While its primary purpose is to generate electricity, during the summer you will find 3 water sports center ready to welcome you, in the municipalities of Castellane, Saint-Julien-du-Verdon Saint-Andre-les-Alpes (20km from the campsite) for trips on the lake on a pedalo, kayak, small motorboat or canoe.
